A Letter From Mike Barber

A Letter to my partners

My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Acts 20:24 NLT

For the last thirty-one years MBM has lived the above scripture to the fullest. And now into our thirty-second year of full-time prison ministry, we will enter more prison units than any previous year.
The first half of verse 24 from Acts 20 expresses work assigned by our Lord Jesus- for our ministry, that is (Matt. 25:40 going cell to cell to “even unto the least of them") sharing the great news, that Jesus forgives and forgets! (Hebrews 8:12 I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins).
After all these years I, and the MBM Staff, can still say, “my life would be worth nothing” doing any other kind of work. Never have we experienced the second day of work- it still feels like the first day!!!
And the second half of verse 24 expresses clearly what that work is, “telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”  The reason God called me was bc he knew I wouldn’t quit. Prison is a very tough place. Yet, for MBM, it seems very easy because of the wonderful favor we have received after years of hard work. I ask you, what greater message, than to let people know: God forgives and forgets.
For “Everyone” who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  God’s desire is that ALL receive him as Lord!!!
Romans 10:13
To close this letter, this next verse is where you play a major part:
Verse 15 says, "And how shall they preach unless they (MBM) are sent?"  From the beginning, I gave my word to God, that if prison is where He called me to preach, then prison is where I will remain faithful. I have kept my word by not giving up Saturdays inside prisons to travel to preach inside a church or somewhere for an offering. Knowing offerings are impossible to receive inside prisons, MBM trusts that God is our supplier and that He will speak to people that will support MBM, if only I have the faith to believe.
And I do have that faith!
Pray and ask God to be a faithful Prison Partner with MBM.
We need an abundance of Romans 10:15 senders. Just to let each of know, by the grace of God, we are a debt-free ministry and have been since day one of this ministry. No gift is too big and no gift is too small.
As Iron Sharpens!
